The Homies and Holy Ground

I want to tell you a story about Soquel Camp meeting that I just learned last night.
The son of one of our members has made some bad choices, including drinking and leading a gang. He wasn’t supposed to be at camp meeting but he came with about 15 of his homies. They were on the top of the hill, having beer parties, and looking for trouble. They went to the nearby town of Watsonville and got in the face of some homies there, then hussled back to our camp ground.
The Watsonville homies were spittin’ mad and followed them. Challanged “our” homies to a rumble right there. For some reason the leader of the Watsonville pack asked what our emcampment was all about anyhow. Someone told him it was a church camp. In the dialog that followed the Watsonville gang found out camp meeting is a spiritual retreat. He asked what we do. He was told that we talk about Jesus and how to live good lives. He then said, “Hey we cant spill blood here. This is holy ground. That’s not right We didn’t know what this place was.”
The person telling me was one of the ones called to help try to deal with the trouble but by the time he got there, to everyone’s amazement, all the homies were shaking hands and apologizing!!!!! ![]()

Praise the Lord. It should give us gratefulness and peace to know that our Heavenly Father has everything in control.
The Watsonville homies were actually invited to our youth meetings but to our knowledge did not come. Please pray for these young men, who, though they are doing many wicked things, have a respect for holy ground. Pray that the HS will fan that action into a turning to His kingdom.

hart1 | August 19th, 2007 at 12:46 amThat is so exciting! My church group is still meeting and praying on Wednesday night. I will have to share your testimony, because they are interested in others’ experiences, too.
