Joel 2:12 Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

2:15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:

2:16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.

2:17 Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?

2:23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

2:27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and [that] I [am] the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

Notice what God’s people are to do prior to receiving the promise of the latter rain there in Joel chapter 2.

What is the promise to those living in these last days?–

“Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain.” Zech 10:1
“And I will strengthen them in the LORD; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the LORD.”10:12

WE are to be like baby birds eager to be filled –

” And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide [as] for the latter rain.” Job 29:23

Why hasn’t the latter rain fallen already?

Jeremiah 3:2 You have polluted the land with your whoredoms and with your wickedness.
3:3 Therefore the showers have been held back, and there has been no latter rain; and you had a whore’s forehead, you refuse to be ashamed.
3:4 Will you not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?

Jer. 5:23 But this people has a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.
5:24 Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that gives rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserves unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.
5:25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have held back the good things from you.

THE REMEDY

Hosea 6:1 Come, and let us return unto the LORD:..
6:2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
6:3 Then shall we know, [if] we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter [and] former rain unto the earth.

Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
